In class today, we had presentations on typography, and I took some notes.
Here are a few things I learned:
- Typography is text transformed into an expression of its meaning.
- “All architecture is building, but not all building is architecture.” (This was quoted on someone’s slide, but I’m not sure where to give credit to.)Applying color to a black-and-white composition will immediately affect hierarchy.
- There are over 150,000 fonts available, but only 500 of them are useful for continuous text.
