Hi friends!
Earlier this week, we learned about 16 tips to make a headline more effective. As a consumer, I think that I overlook headlines frequently because of the overload of information that is constantly being pushed at me from so many sources. Catching my attention, and keeping it, is difficult. However, after reading about these 16 tips, I think that I see headlines differently and can better understand what the writer is expecting from me.
From the 16, here are my top 3 tips that I thought were the most important:
- Make headlines and visuals work together.
- Creating a concept by combining a headline and a matching visual gives the audience a clearer mental image of what the point of the article is.
- Appeal to your audience’s self-interest.
- Appealing to your audience’s self-interest is a great way to get your audience hooked from the start because, let’s be real, people are always thinking about themselves. So, by getting straight to the point about how this product or article will improve the reader’s life, you’re fast-tracking their commitment to it.
- Express your sales proposition in a fresh and compelling way.
- Expressing your sales proposition freshly and compellingly is a great way to sell products that are not in high demand, trending, or desirable.
Taking a product and spinning it to make it seem more appealing is a great way to get more customers who are already using similar products to use yours instead.
