This weekend, I was gifted a new pair of Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. I’m so excited to use them!!!
I thought that the packaging that they came in was super interesting. Not necessarily for the visual design aspects, but more for the materials. The packaging is made entirely from paper!
According to Sony, they have reduced their plastic content by 90%. I think that’s incredibly important for our environment, and it’s even better that they use materials created by plants with a quicker growth time.
My favorite part of this whole design is that they don’t use ink on the paper either. Instead, they chose to emboss their logo into the paper. Adding this to their design not only allows them to use fewer materials to produce the packaging for their products (which most people keep anyway), but it also gives a sense of tangible depth.
